Tim's Garden is located just south of the Beltline in Raleigh, North Carolina. We have 10, 60'x120' garden plots amounting to approximately 1.5 acres of vegetables carefully planted and tended by Tim Morris and Ollie Inglis. We start plants early in our hoop house and can continue harvesting all through the year, barring hard freezes.

We grow many varieties, including some heirlooms. Our plant list includes onions, garlic, leeks, radishes, lettuces, broccoli, cauliflower, root vegetables and greens (turnip, beet, rutabaga, kohlrabi, mustard, mizuna, arugula), tomatoes (of course), peppers, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, beans and peas, brussels sprouts, squash and melons, herbs and flowers.

We've planted an orchard of apples, pears, persimmons, and pomegranates but we're going to have to wait a few years for the fruits of that labor!

We enrich our soil with well composted horse manure and chicken manure and add other organic fertilizers as needed. (We are not certified organic but follow organic practices). Constant crop rotation reduces the risk of disease and soil pests. We encourage bug-eating birds like bluebirds and purple martins and beneficial insects by companion planting and providing habitat. A few chickens also patrol the garden.

Our goal is healthy food from healthy soil and, oh yes, having fun!
