Local, Organic Chestnuts!
You have probably heard the opening line to that famous Christmas song: “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…” , but you may have never tasted roasted chestnuts. Now is your chance! For a limited time, chestnuts will be available on the order page! When roasted, these buttery, shelled morsels make a delicious and unusual appetizer for any fall or winter celebration. The trickiest part of preparing chestnuts is cutting a small X with a sharp knife through the outer shell of each chestnut (a sharp box cutter actually works very nicely for this job). Once that is done, they are a cinch to roast! Soak the chestnuts briefly in hot water, pat dry, toss with melted butter & seasonings, wrap in foil, and pop them in the oven for about 30 minutes. Cool, peel, and eat. That's it!
