Grocery Bags for Seniors (Inter-Faith Food Shuttle)
For the Holiday Season, we are offering one more opportunity to donate a box to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle's Grocery Bags for Seniors Program next week. If you are going out of town for holidays, a donation is a great way to help folks in the community, and support the local farming community at the same time!
Many seniors face unique challenges due to fixed incomes, lack of transportation and health problems. As many as 30% of senior households have indicated that they have had to choose between food and medical care, and 18% of seniors in North Carolina face the threat of hunger. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle serves food-insecure residents of the Triangle area year-round.
To make a donation, please follow these instructions:
1) On your Papa Spud's orderpage, please select the featured item "Donate to IFFS Grocery Bags for Seniors". The cost of the donation is $25.00.
2) If you would like to add any items for yourself to the order, please add those items to your order as well. The donation box will be sent to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle for distribution, and any additional items in your order will be sent to your normal delivery address.
3) If you only wish to order a donation box, and do not wish to have any items delivered to you, please just remove any other items from your order. In this case, you will only be charged for the Donation Box ($25.00). The donation box will be sent to IFFS, and no delivery will be made to you.
The donation box will include Broccoli, Cabbage, Collard Greens, Tomatoes, Bananas, Pears and any other food items requested by the Interfaith Food Shuttle special for this program. The IFFS has indicated that this will be a great option for this particular program, as we are in a unique position to offer such a well-rounded selection of healthy food items.
