Field Tomatoes
Tomato production is finally moving from the greenhouses to the fields, and we will have the first field tomatoes of the season next week. While
it's great to have greenhouse tomatoes in the off-season, greenhouse tomatoes require greater infrastructure making them more costly to
produce. Field tomatoes do not require the same infrastructure, so we will see a significant drop in tomato prices now. Field tomatoes also tend
to receive a better supply of nutrients from the soil versus a greenhouse tomato, which results in a better more complex flavor.
