Beef, Chuck Eye Steak, pasture-raised, grass-fed, frozen
Firsthand Foods

Available for next week, we have some beautiful pasture-raised, grass-fed, local Chuck Eye Steaks available from Firsthand Foods! Chuck Eyes Steaks are part of a growing trend in the meat industry to rediscover the art of butchery, and reveal hidden gems in the lesser valued parts of the steer. Chuck Eyes are just as tender as premium cuts like Ribeyes, but at half the price!

Cooking grass-fed beef is a little different from cooking a steak from the grocery store. The meat is leaner, so it is easier to overcook it. However, we will be providing instructions with each cut on how to cook a grass-fed steak restaurant style over your stove-top. We will also include fresh rosemary and thyme, so you can prepare a dollop of garlic herbed butter to go over your steak, a decadent treat like you'd find at a steakhouse!

About Firsthand Foods:
Firsthand Foods connects North Carolina's pasture-based livestock producers with local food lovers, restaurants, and retailers. We source from a network of remarkable farmers who raise their animals humanely, on pasture, without feeding antibiotics or animal by-products, or using added hormones.* We do the legwork necessary to get a consistent selection of quality local meats into local markets. We trace our products back to the farm of origin so our customers know exactly where their meat comes from and how it was raised.

Firsthand Foods seeks to build a more sustainable food system for North Carolina. Your purchase of Firsthand Foods' beef and pork products supports:

We source only from farmers in North Carolina and the surrounding region and are committed to paying them fairly. We collaborate with allied local businesses in rural communities and sell our products to local markets. This helps keep your food dollars circulating in the local economy.

Our farmers raise healthy animals that are never fed antibiotics or animal by-products, nor do they receive added hormones.*

Our farmers raise their animals outdoors, on a small scale, taking care to minimize the concentration of waste and protect soil and water resources.

Cattle and hogs are raised outdoors in their natural habitats, engaging in innate, biological behaviors. In other words, cattle graze on grass and hogs root, wallow and nest. All of the animals we purchase are processed in small-scale, inspected facilities where humane handling is practiced and care is taken throughout the harvest process.
