Cheese, Drovers Road Cheddar
Orrmans Cheese Shop

Old Drovers Road is a smooth and creamy, medium sharp cheddar. It is less crumbly than they basic cheddar cheese you find at the grocery store, you'll be struck by such a smooth texture in a sharp cheddar cheese. A truly unique and delicious experience!

From the Cheese Maker:
If you know where to look around here, there are remnants of this very old road. It is a path that went from the mountains down into the Piedmont that the Drovers (drivers of livestock, often hogs) would take to get to Charlotte to sell their livestock. I have walked this path and wondered the sights I would have seen long ago and what cheese the Drovers would have stowed away in their sack for the journey. Maybe it was something along these lines, a medium sharp cheddar style cheese that is somehow creamy and somewhat crumbly at the same time. It is only fitting that it also be a raw milk cheese. This cow milk cheese has a naturally buttery color, a hint of sharpness and grassy notes.
