Field Strawberries

We are hitting peak Strawberry season in North Carolina! The berries will continue to get sweeter and sweeter with each new week, but will not keep as well as we approach the end of the season. Early to mid-May is peak season, when the berries are sweet but still consistent enough to store in the fridge for a few days without problem!

More and more farms are coming online with their locally-raised berries, this is a fun time to try different varieties and farms out, and pick your favorite! Out of state berries are picked unripe, and are bred to be firmer and heartier so that they'll stand up to shipping. But there is no comparison when it comes to flavor and sweetness, local is best and we are delighted to have them!
