Fall Arugula & Mizuna


Local, organic Arugula and Mizuna from Eastern Carolina Organics is on the order page this week.

Arugula, also known as "salad rocket", is a zippy leafy green with a pungent, spicy flavor. Arugula can be added to other greens in a salad or paired with fruit in a salad. The peppery, pungent flavor of arugula complements the sweetness of the fruit. Although arugula is great in salads, try adding arugula to pastas, grains, and soups, or blend it into a delicious spicy pesto! Add arugula leaves to sandwiches in place of other, less flavorful greens!

Mizuna is a soft green similar to arugula, but considered to be a little milder in flavor. It goes very nicely with arugula in a salad, to round out the flavors a little. It's often used in Japanese and Asian cuisine. The leaves are quite attractive, and make a very nice fresh topping to stir-fry dishes, soups, noodles, in a banh-mi, or as a pizza topping.
